Isio Perspective – October
Wealth
Welcome to Isio Perspective
In an era of constant market noise and shifting geopolitics, our goal for this new series is simple – to provide you with around ten minutes of clear thinking every month that cuts through the headlines and focuses on what impacts markets and investments.
A one-stop digestible explanation of the month past and the things to be thinking about for the months ahead.
Isio’s Mohammad Shuaib is joined by Scott Botterman, Senior Portfolio Engineer at Fisher Investments and Tom Ross, Global Head of High Yeild and Credit Strategy at Janus Henderson Investors to discuss what drove markets in Q3. We explore the key forces shaping equity and credit markets, why investors have remained confident in the face of ongoing volatility, and what long-term investors should be focusing on as we look ahead.
The views in this video are the opinion of Isio, Fisher Investments and Janus Henderson only and do not constitute advice. This video does not constitute a financial promotion and is a general update on markets for informational purposes only.
DC Capex: Data-centre cap-ex capital i.e. expenditure on building, expanding and equipping data centres
Triple C’s: An issuers credit-rating, shorthand for bonds rated CCC (These carry a substantial default risk and typically low credit quality.)
Purchasing Managers’ Indices (PMIs): Monthly surveys of business conditions; readings above 50 generally indicate expansion, below 50 contraction.
Pull to par: The tendency for a bond’s market price to move towards its face value as maturity approaches: discount bonds rise towards par, while premium bonds fall towards par.
Basis points (Bps): One basis point equals 0.01%, so 25 bps equals 0.25%; commonly used for yields, spreads and fees.
