Mike Smedley

I am an experienced Scheme Actuary to schemes ranging from under £20m in size up to £3bn.  Unusually, I’ve spent half of my career advising corporates, so I’m instinctively collaborative and commercial with my clients – ensuring trustees and corporates are aligned on their strategy.  I’ve worked in many complex or difficult situations that needed fresh ideas, helping clients achieve a number of “firsts” – for example benefit changes, member options and asset-backed funding structures.

I take pride in putting my clients first – listening to their needs, giving proportionate advice to the circumstances and boiling complicated issues down to the key facts and decisions.  Any advice is only as good as the way it’s delivered, and I am equally comfortable in a FTSE 100 boardroom, lobbying MPs, or on a shop-floor communicating with members.
