I’m Sam and I started my career as a pensions administrator over 20 years ago. I’m now a Director in our Operational Solutions team, helping schemes, sponsors and pension providers to deliver the right administration outcomes.
I’m lucky to have a role that’s really broad and offers a huge amount of variety – one day we’ll be resolving a tricky calculation or data issue for a scheme, the next we’ll be delivering due diligence for a bulk annuity provider, or doing a whole-service review on an admin provider. I’m proud of my pensions administration background – when I first started my career I was on the front-line of calculating benefits and speaking to members, so I know how tough the job is.
That experience has made me passionate about making sure that members get the best possible experience and that schemes can achieve their strategic goals. This is a really challenging time for administrators. Members rightly expect to access information about their pensions at the touch of a button. At the same time, schemes have never been busier trying to keep up with industry requirements (GMPE, Dashboard) and deliver strategic outcomes (eg. risk settlement). We help clients to achieve these goals by fixing their admin problems – whether that be data inconsistencies, calculation errors, processes, member engagement or delivery models. I also sit on the Governance Committee for Isio’s own defined contribution pension scheme, which gives me great insight into what it’s like to be on the other side of the table as a client.
